Safe and Secure

A workshop for professionals responding to children and young people affected by family violence.
Safe and Secure training is for professionals in the eastern metropolitan region who work with children who have experienced family violence. It will enable workers to:
  • Explore a framework for trauma informed practice when working with children and families affected by family violence
  • Develop an understanding of the impacts of family violence related trauma on specific areas of a child's functioning
  • Consider the application of a model of practice that can support recovery in children
  • Understand intervention within the context of a child's culture and community.

All participants will receive a copy of the practice guide.

Time: 9.30am -4.30pm

Cost: Free (lunch provided)

Family Violence Sector Induction Forum

The Family Violence Sector Induction Forum is an orientation for workers who are new to the family violence service system or the eastern metropolitan region (EMR).

This session aims to give participants an introduction to the family violence system in the EMR, with presentations from key services in the region.

Presentations include:

  • The Eastern Metropolitan Regional Family Violence Partnership (EMR RFVP)
  • Cultural Diversity and Family Violence
  • Family Violence and Gender
  • Men's Behaviour Change
  • Police Role in Responding to Family Violence
  • Responses to Children

 

Date: Thursday 20 October 2016

Time: 9.30am - 3.30pm

Venue: Manningham Function Centre (699 Doncaster Road, Doncaster East)

Cost: FREE (lunch provided)
