The Safer Together Protocol has been developed as an extension of the 2008 state-wide template developed by DHHS, and a 2009 forum held for EMR stakeholders. The establishment of this protocol for the eastern metropolitan region is led by the Regional Family Violence Partnership as a key action under its 2015-2018 Strategic Plan. The document also refers to a number of protocols which underpin this Protocol.

Reclaim Research Project Report: Preventing Violence against Women 2011-12 is a report commissioned by Monashlink (now Link Health and Community) by Dr Tracy Castelino, looking at how to engage and empower staff and the organisation as a whole in developing a more effective and respectful response to violence against women.

The EMR RFVP Referral Pathways flowcharts were developed by the Regional Family Violence Partnership Referral Pathways Working Group. The flowcharts are intended for use by agency workers to show entry points into the family violence sector.

Children Experiencing Family Violence: Working Together to Develop a Better Service Response (Eastern Metropolitan Regional Family Violence Partnership 2009) was a report commissioned and managed by the Children's Needs and Mapping Working Group, a working group of the Eastern Regional Family Violence Executive Committee (now Eastern Metropolitan Regional Family Violence Partnership).
