There are Gay and Lesbian Liaison Officers located at various police stations throughout Victoria. They can assist in providing discrete, non-judgemental advice and assistance in the reporting of crimes.
Family Access Network (FAN) provides transitional housing for young people aged 15-25 who are experiencing or are at risk of homelessness. FAN has two properties specifically for SSATI (same-sex attracted, transgender and intersex) young people. These properties are available to anyone residing in Victoria. There is also a weekly support group for SSATI young people - it's a great place to meet people, chat, learn and have fun.
Queerspace provides individual, couples and family counselling as well as groups and seminars aimed at supporting LGBTIQ people with their mental health needs. Counsellors are mental health professionals who identify as LGBTI or Q themselves or are queer friendly. Service costs are based on a person's ability to pay. For people with financial difficulty they are often provided free of charge. After hours sessions are also available. Queerspace is a part of Drummond Street Services and has a 40+ year history of working with the queer communtiy.
Switchboard/QLife is a volunteer, nationally-oriented counselling referral service for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and/or queer (LGBTIQ) communities and their supporters. They offer a free, confidential and anonymous telephone counselling, referral and information service, providing early intervention and web based services to people of all ages across the full breadth of people's bodies, genders, relationships, sexualities, and lived experiences.
